Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. He was in office from March 4, 1861 to April 15, 1865.

He was born on February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville, Kentucky. He married Mary Todd and they had four children.

Lincoln was a Republican, lawyer, and statesman. He was also a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois before his presidency.

Lincoln was president during the Civil War and kept the Union together.

He signed the Emancipation Proclamation and abolished slavery in the U.S.

Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865, by John Wilkes Booth. Booth was an actor and Confederate spy. Booth shot Lincoln in the Ford’s Theater.
