Chuck Close

Chuck Close is an American painter and photographer.

Close received his Bachelor of Art from the University of Washington in Seattle. Then, he was awarded a scholarship at Yale University, and finished his Master’s degree at Yale. After getting his Master’s he decided to study at Fine Arts in Vienna. When he arrived back in the United States, he began teaching at the University of Massachusetts.

He is considered to be an photorealist which involves an intricate process.

Close uses his friends and family as subjects in his pieces.

His style of art work changed when he was paralyzed due to his catastrophic spinal artery collapse.
